Wow, that memorial would be lovely to see in person. Hit me right in my feelings!
The feelings that the photo conveys are so strong and like you said, seeing this in person is another thing…
I’ve never been to Budapest, but it’s on my list! The Basilica is beautiful! I love seeing the different architecture of the Roman Catholic Churches around the world!
Europe in general is full of structures in roman style, you have to consider the influence they had on the empire! It’s so amazing 🙂
This is a great roundup of places to see in Budapest! I’d love to visit. It seems like there’s a lot of history and unique character there.
Cheers, Sarah Camille
You should start to plan your trip here, Budapest is beautiful all the year! Happy travel Sarah 🙂
I agree with your opinion on the Hungarian Parliament building. I think this is the most beautiful building in all of Europe, more people should know about it. The shoes on the river Danube is an interesting memorial of a terrible history.
We haven’t seen it with our eyes but we believe in the guy who wrote this article for us! We are in love with Budapest, we can’t wait to visit it!!
Budapest is such a great city – it’s a shame I only got to visit it once so far! It was such a short visit too, so I’ll have to follow a list to make sure I hit the proper spots… Oh look, here’s a great one! 🙂
I haven’t seen either the Parliament or the Szechenyi baths – so those two really caught my eye. I’ll make sure to see the shoe memorial close to Parliament too, somber memorials like those always seem to make me reflect on the history of wherever I am, and along the river seems like the perfect spot for it. Thanks for curating this nice little list! I’ll be bookmarking it for that future trip 🙂
Oh and give my thanks to Been Around the Globe for writing this for you – as I said, it’s great!
Visiting a memorial is always a special thing that conveys lots of feelings and it’s something you have to try if you are on the place (wherever you are and if the place have these type of monuments).
Budapest has everything a tourist needs to discover!!
Deep-fried dough. Wow, that sounds so yummy.
A thousand-year-old city has to be full of interesting and historic stuff. Thanks for taking the time to pick the eyes out of the feast.
Not yet been, but my impression of Hungarians is that they eat and drink a lot, resulting in a race of chubby but cheerful people. Is this true on the ground, or is it just the ones that got away?
We can’t say this because we haven’t been there yet but we can ask to the author of the article and we can let you know!
In general we know that hungarians are very welcoming and friendly 🙂
This is an interesting and well illustrated guide to a great city. I visited Budapest many years ago, but it was right in the middle of winter, so it was lovely to see it in the sunshine via your photographs. Thanks for sharing 🙂
We are very happy that you liked the work of the author of the article. We are proud of this collaboration 🙂
A very handy guide for Budapest. I am always so interested in public baths! Would love to visit Budapest some day.
We wish you to visit Budapest very soon, because it’s worth it! We can ensure this!!
You would not believe it I have never read a similar post on Budapest. I found Budapest the most romantic city I have ever seen.
It’s a very sweet comment, this means that the post reached its goal!!
Budapest is lovely, I had some great time there, beautiful city, and not the mention the night live, great clubs filled with nice people
Budapest has everything you are looking for in a modern city, under every single aspect 😉 This is amazing!
Whoa! That public bath is super crowded, but we’d love to check that out and connect with other people. Budapest is stunning! We love the way how the original architecture and “theme” of the city is preserved.
We love it too! The style of the city is very famous and makes it so special, so in love with everything here 🙂
I have heard and read a lot of great stories about Budapest and how amazing it is. I hope I can get there one day and see all those shoes. I am sure that would be a very moving place to witness. Hero square looks really cool as well as one of the many public baths.
We are more than sure that when you visit Budapest you’ll never feel the sensation to back home. Budapest is very welcoming!!
I have heard about the shoes at Danube. It is really saddening to remember such incidents. Well, Budapest is a beautiful country with lots of architectural design to see. Would love to visit it someday. 🙂
If you really want you can plan a trip when you have the possibility and we wish you that this can happen soon! Happy travel 🙂
Thanks for sharing your experience. Budapest seems like such a beautiful place. I’m loving the architecture. Your photos were beautiful.
Thanks to the author of the article, he did a great job! We are happy about this 🙂
Budapest is a city I’ve been meaning to visit for years- it’s interesting to see new and different options for what to do – love thermal baths!:)
Maybe you can plan a trip here for the next year. It looks like the perfect way to start the year, doesn’t it?
Budapest is a lovely place with some magnificent and stunning architecture. But what really moved me was the shoe memorial by the side of the Danube river. What a chilling and poignant sight it must have been when innocents were shot here. I think a very moving memorial.
We think this is one of the most moving memorials there are in Europe. Visiting these memorials is something everyone should do at least one time in lifetime, they change you!
I never have been to Budapest but it’s very high on my bucket list. The memorial at the Danube is something I would like to show my children; it’s horrible without being graphical .. I think it would impress them very much and they absolutely would understand the meaning of it. It’s important to teach children European history in the hope it’s never repeating.
We totally share your opinion! Everyone should know what happened, only in this way we can form a communal awareness. This must never happens again!!
Budapest sounds like such an interesting city with such and interesting history! I would love to explore and learn all about it. One of my favourite things to do in European cities 🙂
It’s not a secret that Budapest is one of the most favorite destinations by tourists!!
Lovely post. That deep fried dough reminds me of Jamaican fried dumplings. Your pics are awesome by the way. I have pinned this to my European travel board too.
Glad to have motivated you to add Budapest in your travel list on Pinterest! Shout out to the blogger who wrote the article for us 🙂
